An Attractive Solution for Shoreham
Otter Creek Engineering performed all services from conceptual planning through construction review of the $1.9 million municipal wastewater facilities for the Town of Shoreham. Completed under budget and within 3 years from problem identification, the project reflects the superior management skills utilized by the firm. The rural surroundings required aesthetic accents which would allow the facility to blend into the community. Residents and visitors have commented that they were not aware that the facility treats wastewater. The facility not only serves 70 businesses, residences and municipal buildings, but also provides capacity for future development.
Otter Creek Engineering worked with Magic Hat Brewing Company of South Burlington, Vermont to develop an on-site pretreatment system that would save money by eliminating mandated wastewater trucking. The cost-effective solution, designed to adjust pH and buffer wastewater flow, allowed the client to obtain local and sate permits.
Alternative On-site Wastewater Facility
Otter Creek Engineering designed and obtained permits for an on-site wastewater treatment facility at the Middlebury Quarry of OMYA, Inc. By finding a suitable disposal area and utilizing innovative treatment alternatives, the project saved the client from constructing a treatment system on neighboring property a great distance from the quarry.
